Qcon resources include:
Qcon has over 500 permanent Management & Supervisory personnel, who form the core of the project teams and are supplemented by our project or time-hired personnel.
We have a large database of known personnel, which gives us the ability to mobilize project teams for our shutdown and construction projects.
Our total workforce has exceeded 8,000 in 2010.
Qcon has its own camps in Al Khor/ Ras Laffan, Mesaieed and Dukhan, with a current capacity of 4,000.
We are able to quickly and economically expand our camp capacity to meet project demands.
PLANT AND MACHINERY
Qcon has an extensive fleet of plant and equipment, which includes cranes up to 400 tons capacity (and access to larger ones), welding machines, compressors, generators, light towers, backhoes, plate compactors, concrete mixers, formwork.
All equipment is owned, operated and maintained by us, and meets all customer and national certification requirements.
Qcon has sufficient temporary facilities to undertake several large projects simultaneously.
This includes site offices, ablution blocks, lunchrooms, stores, site fabrication shops, and all the infrastructure necessary to operate them, such as: generators, day-tanks and switchgear; water towers and reticulation; fencing and guard-huts; lighting.
FABRICATION & WORKSHOP FACILITIES
Marine & Heavy Structural Fabrication Yard
The Qcon Marine Fabrication Yard is 135,000M2 has 4,500 square meters of covered workshop, a 200 metre long marine jetty suitable for berthing marine vessels (jack-ups, workboats, barges, tugs etc), and loading structures. It is capable of accommodating vessels of up to 6.5 metres draught at low tide; and loading out heavy structures and integrated topside decks with a maximum weight of 9,000 tons, which is accomplished over a piled concrete launching pad.
The yard has an open fabrication area of 98415 sq. meter for the assembly of all jackets and decks small and large size components with 22,000 sq.m used as material storage area to accommodate the projects Bulk materials. The production capacity of the yard is 16,000 tons per year.
The Yard has a Pipe Rack Facility equipped with 3 submerged arc-welding machines.
The facility is equipped with a self-ejecting jack pneumatic control system for rolling and handling of pile sections. It also can handle pipes up to 100 Mtrs length and up to 84” dia pipes, with capacity up to 120 ton Pile sections.
The Fabrication Workshop at the yard has a dimension of 125 Meter long x 25 meter width x 11 meter height. It is equipped with the following:
- 2 Nos. of overhead cranes with 6 ton capacity.
- Rolling Machine with rolling capacity upto 50mm thickness.
- Hydraulic Pressing Machine with capacity upto 25mm thickness.
- Photo cell Profile cutting Machine suitable for cutting plates upto 3 meter width x 12m long
- Hydraulic plate forming machine upto 100 Ton capacity.
- CNC Pipe Profiling Machine Model SPC 1200 (Manufacturer: HGG) suitable for pipes up to 42” diameter pipes and upto 19 meter traveling length.
- Computer controlled, programmable pipe cutting machine model PPC 85 (manufacturer: HGG) suitable for cutting and profiling of jackets and deck tubular braces upto 30” dia pipes.
The workshop is suitable for fabrication of small structure and all miscellaneous items for platform structures (Boat landing, riser guard, riser clamps, walkways, stairs, handrails etc..) and also for pipe spool fabrication works.
The workshop is used for cutting and profiling of Jacket and deck tubular bracer up to 42” Diameter. It is also suitable for steel structural pre-fabrication works and miscellaneous items.
The Yard is also equipped with a separate Blasting & Painting shop. The dimensions of this shop are 125 Meter long x 12 meter width x 7.5 meter height. It can give a capacity of 300 sq.m / day
Onshore Fabrication Shop:
Our central fabrication shop at Salwa, is ASME Certified PP, R, S, U and U2. It is well equipped with overhead crane, sub-arc welding machines, shear press and plate rolling machine.
We have a Welding School, for qualification of procedures and testing and qualification of personnel.
We have pipe and structural prefabrication capability and are used to working with carbon, high nickel content and stainless steel and aluminium. We can prepare our own shop drawings.
We also have a demountable field fabrication shop, usually used for spool prefabrication, currently located at Ras Laffan.
We are currently in the process of building our new services and fabrication facility over a 40,000m2 area at Ras Laffan industrial city.
Qcon has mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, instrumentation and woodwork shops at its central facility.
